2009 ![]() Details of 2010 MAY DAY SPRING FESTIVAL May Day Spring Festival Saturday 1st May 11am – 3pm Catholic Church Newcastle Emlyn If you are looking for a fun family day out there is to be a big Spring Festival to be held in Newcastle Emlyn in the Catholic Church Hall. Visitors to the area are very welcome to come and join the fun. Children will be asked to design their own coat of arms and to take part in the colouring competition. Every one is very welcome to attend this special event which is held every year. The Catholic Church is near the castle in Newcastle Emlyn and parking spaces are available. At the event there will be a Ribbon Dance with Circle Dancers .There will be pony and donkey rides, a treasure hunt and various side stalls. Cardigan Brass Band,Holy Trinity Church Choir, 'Tai Chi' an Eco Warrior and a Barn Owl as well as Aberporth Dog Club who will be holding an dog agility class. The Catholic Church and the Rainbows are jointly organising the following children's competitions: a May Queen Competition, a Fancy Dress competition and a colouring competition which are all to be held during the Spring Fayre at the Catholic Church Hall. Judges for the competition will be Val Jackson (MBE) and Nonie and Michael Beckingsale, Giles and Janet Nunn and Barbara Heckler. The May Queen Competition The retiring May Queen, Eliza Wolfe and her attendants will be heading a parade to the Catholic Church from Central Caf� at 10.45 am on May 1st. All girls to meet at Central Caf� at 10.45 am. There is to be a police escort. A new May Queen and her two new attendants to be chosen by Val Jackson (MBE) at 12 Noon. The new May Queen will be driven in the vintage car to Glyn Nest and Maes Llewellyn to parade for the residents, and include them in the festivities. The Fancy Dress Competition The Fancy Dress competition will be judged by Barbara Heckler of the Trefoil Guild at 2 pm. All children are welcome to enter the fancy dress competition, the May Queen competition and the colouring competition and the Teddy Bears Picnic (please bring your own teddy bear (age group 3 -8 years). Various prizes depending on age group. The colouring competition will be held between 11 am and 2 pm before the judges decide on the winners. All children are welcome but participants must register themselves between 11 am – 12 noon on May 1st. Prize giving and closing ceremony to be held at 3 pm. Entries for each category is Rainbows, Newcastle Emlyn 4.15 -5.15 pm, Mondays in Community Church hall. The Rainbows in Newcastle Emlyn will be held in a new venue at the Community Church Hall. The first Rainbows after the spring break will be held on Monday 19th April. All girls between 5 – 7 years are welcome to attend. Promise Party, and badges are available. The girls do craft activities, cookery and have parties and outings which are often held jointly with the Brownies. There will be an outing to the Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran on Saturday May 15th where there will be a big party to celebrate 100 years of girl guiding. Come and join the fun.
